On the other hand, some team owners have stated that they would fire employees who chose to protest during the national anthem. Hill’s Tweet read, “But that Confederate flag is welcome anytime at NASCAR races #TheIrony”. The owners’ threats and Hill’s Tweet followed the NFL players’ protests in response to President Trump’s negative comments about them at a campaign rally in Alabama. On Sunday, Trump praised NASCAR and its fans in a Tweet for their stance on disrespecting the country and flag.
