Should Andrew Jackson Be Removed From History Next?

In wake of the Charlottesville violence, there has been a renewed effort to rid the South of confederate monuments. This movement has extended into the realm of our national currency as there is now an effort to remove Andrew Jackson from the $20 dollar bill. Jackson was the nation’s 7th president, serving from 1829 through 1837. He was a war hero and a populist president. But he was also a brutal slave owner, an avowed racist, and responsible for forcibly relocating 15,000 Cherokee Indians from Georgia to Oklahoma, which resulted in the death of 4,000 of them.
