Community outraged after student forced to remove American flag from truck

A Dinwiddie County assistant principal had two students remove American flags from their trucks. While parents, students, and some faculty members complained and believe it was to avoid controversy, school officials explained later they believed the flags to be a safety hazard for the students because they were obstructing the rear window. Still, to handle such concerns would be up to the sheriff’s department. Besides, as long as there are two side mirrors it is not illegal to obstruct the view out of the rear window. After 8News inquired, the school reversed its decision.

Key Takeaways:

  • administration official asked two students to remove American flags that were flying from trucks.
  • The administration said they were worried the student could not see out his rear window.
  • But on Tuesday, the school system changed their tune and said the flags could stay.

“My entire family fought and died under that flag.”
