There is a compromise being sought over the Confederate flag in York Co. courtroom. A compromise would stop the need for legal action. One person has said that they will not take legal action yet because the flag has not yet gone back on display. It is up to the clerk what comes next.
Compromise sought over Confederate flag in York Co. courtroom; legal action may loom
I have lived in York County all my life and I am ashamed of our officials and some Yankee lawyer who wants to evaporate our Confederate History. What’s next ? Dig up the soldiers at Rose Hill Cemetery around the corner? I guess there is not enough Southern Blood left in the judicial system to protect these things we hold dear. I guess some have forgot that people like my GGGF DIED for those historical items. I Haven’t forgotten and will not forget every time I step in front of a voting machine!
Doe Vindice.
In my opinion, flags and displays that have been in this courtroom for a long time, represent history, and those should therefore remain as they have always been. The notion that “this is a new age” does not mean erase history. Our past should be on display always, and be something we should cherish. Also, local governments have a duty to inform citizens that history is not to be erased, no matter if some people don’t like it. With regards to the Confederate flag, local government have a responsibility to inform people that this flag represents soldiers sacrifice, comradeship, hardship, and the profession of arms also. These attributes outweigh what racist minded have used it for long after it was conceived. There are always people who will disagree on any position or symbol, and we cannot and must not ignore history to satisfy a few.
