The confederate flag is a controversial topic. The stance on the issue appears to be split down the middle with some stating it represents bigotry and others claiming it symbolizes freedom to express themselves. The county event will feature massive confederate flags and their sale. Some are urging the community to boycott the fair.

Thirty years ago this would not have been a problem. We wouldn’t have had such historical revisionism as saying something as complex as a war was over “just one thing alone”, especially when that “one thing” was specifically what the Northern Declaration of War said it WASN’T over.
But we have had 100 years of the Cult of Lincoln and 30 years of the work of influential Civil War Historian Professor Eric Foner, who told the world in his book “Who Owns History” that he was a Marxist and he wanted to change the way the country saw the Civil War.
We don’t allow Marxist access to sensitive Government agencies or the military, why are we allowing them access to teach on our college campuses?
Look, the reason for the Civil War is available to ANYONE willing to look at the primary sources; 30 years earlier the South threatened to secede over taxes and we had the Nulification Crisis. Taxes went down.
Taxes went back up 30 years later, and the South, which was paying the bulk of the taxes and getting very little in return, had enough. And Lincoln himself said on numerous occasions that the war was over taxes not slavery.
Yet we have people who deny Lincoln was a tyrant who stationed troops in voting places to ensure his reelection, arrested people critical of his conduct, and sanctioned war crimes against civilian populations in violation of general order 100 and the rules of warfare throughout the Western World. He put officers arrested for rape back on the front lines. He allowed the plunder of homes. And if the war was fought because the North wanted to free the slaves out of the “goodness” of their hearts, explain why Union troops exploded a temporary bridge over Ebeniezar Creek, SC with 600+ newly freed slaves still on it? Or why they allowed the Devil’s Punchbowl in Mississippi?
We have been told that Lincoln “saved” the Union. He didn’t. He altered it so that we can have the big intrusive government we have today. The only good thing that came from the Civil War was chattel slavery was ended. ( It was started in Massachusetts.)
