Members of the South Carolina Secessionist Party held a rally at the capitol on Monday, July 10th, where they raised the Confederate flag on a temporary flag pole. Supporters reiterated their intent to hoist the flag each year on the anniversary of the flag’s removal from the capitol grounds. About 50 people attended in support of the action; about a dozen protesters also attended the event.
