A lawmaker has proposed a law that allow local municipalities to remove Confederate statues, rather than going through the state legislature. This streamlines the removal process, and leaves these decisions up to the local governments. In wake of the recent unrest regarding the removal of such statues, the lawmaker felt and expedited process was necessary.
