Honoring Our Confederate Heritage & Virtues

presented by Ultimate Flags LLC

What to do with the statues?

The author tries to address the current issue of removing Confederate statues from public parks across the US. He understands it is a problem that needs more communication on the issue, but agrees that for the best they should be removed. Citing a SPLC article showing a spike in monuments post Jim Crow & Civil Rights era changes, he feels that they could be used better in a history museum or park dedicated to these monuments as a lesson of our past.

Key Takeaways:

  • Someone spray painted “Black Lives Matter” onto a statue and the author starts to write about the confederate states and white supremacy
  • The Charlottesville protest of August 11th changed the way Americans view the confederate states and started to demand all confederate memorabilia and statues be removed from the country.
  • The Threefold do not want to remove them as they are vital marks of history for the abolishment of slavery, the civil war, Jim Crow laws, and the civil unrest in the 1950s

“Regardless of the purpose behind each statue, we believe they are a piece of American history, a part of the story of where we are today.”
