York Co. clerk reverses decision: SC act means Confederate flag must stay in courtroom

South Carolina’s Heritage Act means that a Confederate flag will remain in a courtroom. The issue has been ongoing in York County, South Carolina. The plan from a County Clerk of Court, David Hamilton, was to leave the flag in the building but remove it from the courtroom. A formal review by state lawmakers found this move to be a violation of state law. The flag must remain in the courtroom. The Heritage Act applies to historical markers, monuments or buildings. It require a legislative act to move or change any of these objects.
