The constitutionality of the Mississippi state flag challenge in district court. Carlos Moore opened up a lawsuit against the state of Mississippi in regards to their flag. Moore argued that the Mississippi flag containing confederate battle emblem violated both the 13th and 14th amendment. U.S District Judge Carleton Reeves dismissed the case, but left the door open for future lawsuits. Reeves believes as Mississippi moves forward into the future the confederate emblem in the flag should be retired.
