Group pushing initiative to keep Mississippi state flag as-is

Ragged first national Confederate Flag - the original Stars and Bars was flown from 4th March 1861 - 1st May 1863 and was replaced by the more noted Stars and Bars because the original was difficult to differentiate from the Stars and Stripes in battle.

Supporters of the current Mississippi state flag are hoping its able to keep its appearance. Debate is raised over the confederate emblem on the flag. Supporters of Initiative 58 are hoping it gets passed on the next ballot to never again make an appearance on another ballot. The Heritage Keepers Rally took place on the steps of the capitol Saturday. Currently 3 changes are on the docket. Changes could be made as early as 2018 depending on the polls outcomes.
