A $6 million project to restore the stone house and grounds that served as Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee’s headquarters at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania lauding by the head of a preservation group. This 4-acre property had been privately owned ever since the Civil War’s bloodiest battle, sprouting a motel, restaurant and other modern structures that dismayed preservationists and history buffs.
