Letter: The age of intolerance

There is still intolerance in the world even though you’d expect it to be better. This letter talks about and what it means for us as a society. There are many groups who are met with discrimination and intolerance in general and this should not be the case. it is not good for them or for anyone.

Key Takeaways:

  • Our universities were formerly known as places OF free speech are now becoming places FROM free speech
  • I have friends that fly the Confederate flag as a monument to history. I may not fly that flag, but I defend their right to do so.
  • While we may not be proud of some chapters in our history, does that give us the right to rewrite the history books and lessons from it?

“In a country that was founded on many freedoms (including freedom of speech and freedom to worship as we wish) we find ourselves rapidly regressing into intolerance.”
